"Thibaud Boudignon is an ex-Judo master. I have no idea if that impacts how he makes his wine but it is a pretty badass thing to be. I could possibly stretch the metaphor to talk about how Judo is all about leverage and balance and how it transliterates as "the gentle way" which matches with Thibaud's wines almost precisely. He is one of the leading lights in the 21st century revolution in the Middle Loire, Anjou specifically.
"Until very recently, the micro-climates of the Middle Loire were generally ignored in favor of making lots of decent wines, Chenin for whites, Cab Franc for reds, but nothing overly thoughtful. Or, at least as far as the market was concerned. Boudignon is nothing if not thoughtful. The Clos de la Hutte is his Montrachet (appropriate comparison as he studied in Burgundy before founding his eponymous estate). Chenin Blanc of this style are incredibly age-worthy so I have recommended to anyone who will listen, put these in your cellar and treat them like Grand Cru Burgundy in terms of time in bottle. You WILL be rewarded."

Although it's ungenerous on the nose, the 2022 SavenniŠres Clos de la Hutte is tender and generous in the mouth, welcoming you in. There's a cloud of gently handled fruit that embraces the palate, but it does so in an elegant and light-on-its-feet way. Texturally, it's seamless and coats the mouth with fine texture. In terms of flavor, expect salty, briny notes and citrus tones alongside a touch of spice and nutty oak on the finish. This is a wine that seems to be able to take a deep, calming breath and become more complete."
