Sandlands Contra Costa Red Blend 2023

A deeply characterful red blend from Contra Costa County, made by Sandlands as part of a project focused on preserving and celebrating California’s historic, dry-farmed vineyards. Sourced from some of the region’s oldest plantings—often over a century old—it reflects the rugged, low-intervention spirit of these pre-Prohibition vines.

Sandlands was founded by winemaker Tegan Passalacqua as a side project of Turley Wine Cellars, with a clear mission: to highlight California’s forgotten vineyards and traditional field blends. Working with minimal intervention and old-school techniques, the winery has become known for wines that prioritise site identity, historic vines, and a more restrained expression of California fruit.
