A Speyside single cask single malt from Craigellachie, bottled by Murray McDavid after 14 years of maturation and finished in a Saint-Julien red wine cask. The whisky begins its life in traditional oak before being transferred to a French Bordeaux barrique, where it absorbs the character of a structured, Cabernet-led wine region.
The Saint-Julien influence layers in dark berry fruit, cassis, and subtle herbal notes, adding a wine-driven tannic edge that complements Craigellachie’s naturally robust, slightly oily spirit. Beneath the finish, the distillery’s signature weight and faintly meaty, fruity core remain present, giving the whisky both structure and depth.
The result is a bold yet balanced expression where Speyside intensity meets Bordeaux refinement, finishing with red fruit, gentle spice, and a firm, wine-tinged dryness that lingers.
