La Kiuva 'Rouge de Vallee' 2024

A vibrant alpine red from Italy’s Valle d’Aosta, made primarily from Picotendro (a local high-altitude clone of Nebbiolo) blended with small amounts of native mountain varieties. The vineyards sit on steep, glacial terraces at elevation, where cool temperatures and strong diurnal shifts preserve freshness and aromatic lift.

Fermentation is carried out with traditional methods and followed by a mix of stainless steel and large neutral wood aging, keeping the focus on purity rather than overt oak influence. The winemaking emphasizes light extraction and balance to match the delicacy of the mountain fruit.

The result is a bright, energetic red with notes of wild strawberry, red currant, and alpine herbs, layered with subtle spice and a stony, mineral edge. Light-bodied, fresh, and gently structured, it shows a slightly savory, crisp finish that reflects its high-altitude origin.
