"Vincent Dauvissat is one of the greatest Chablis domaines ever to exist. His wines are, along with Raveneau, the most coveted of the entire appellation. They obviously don't make Pinot Noir in Chablis so I was shocked when I found out Dauvissat has a red! If you've never heard of Irancy, don't be too hard on yourself. It is just southwest of Chablis, sharing many of the same geological features of its more famous, white wine producing neighbor. The word which always comes to mind when I think of Irancy is "crunchy". They are cool climate Pinots, to be sure, actually closer to the wines of Hirsch Vineyard in the Sonoma Coast than any of its Cote D'Or cousins."
