Domaine Michel Mallard Aloxe-Corton 'La Toppe Au Vert' 1er Cru Rouge 2018

A structured and quietly powerful Premier Cru Pinot Noir from Aloxe-Corton, drawn from the “La Toppe au Vert” vineyard, where clay-limestone soils mixed with stony, iron-rich elements bring both depth and tension to the wine. The site sits at the edge of the Corton slope, giving it a balance of ripeness and a firm, mineral backbone.

In the cellar, the approach is traditional and precise, with native fermentations and a controlled extraction to preserve detail and structure. Aging in French oak—partly new—adds shape and subtle spice while allowing the vineyard character to remain clearly expressed.

The result is a firm yet refined Burgundy, showing dark cherry, red plum, and blackberry layered with violet, earth, and a faint smoky edge. Tannins are present but polished, supported by fresh acidity that drives length. It finishes long and savory, with a stony, slightly iron-tinged persistence that reflects its Aloxe-Corton origin.
