More than seven centuries have shaped the vineyard of this vast Pessac-Léognan estate, making it one of the oldest wine estates in the Bordeaux region. The Benedictine monks, the founding fathers of the Carbonnieux estate, have left an indelible mark on its long history. Just like the notable Ferron and Bouchereau families, and today the Perrin family, who have managed the estate since 1956, spanning four generations. Château Carbonnieux wines have enjoyed an international reputation for a long time. It is even said that in the 18th century, the white wines were cleverly sent to the palace of the Sultan of Constantinople under the name “Carbonnieux mineral water” due to their clarity and purity. Château Carbonnieux is unique in that it produces nearly equal quantities of white wines (42 ha) and red wines (50 ha), and it represents the largest area of white wine production in the Appellation.
