2005, 2010, 2020
Historically, Château Rauzan-Gassies has been regarded as a classic Margaux producer offering elegant, medium-full bodied wines that offer more freshness and opulence.
2005, a truly legendary vintage. I consider it the only historically great vintage thus far in the 21st century in terms of long-term ageing.
“Decanted (with slight sediment) about two and a half hours before dinner, with the second glass even better than the first.” CellarTracker, 2025
2010 is like if 2005 was dialed back about 3 degrees. Still stunning, just reaching its maturity and peak sooner than 2005, making it ideal to enjoy side by side.
“We pitted the Rauzan-Gassie against the latest release of Sassicaia (2022) and because this had age and was at a lovely point in its life this wine won.” CellarTracker, 2025
2020 marks the official start of the "new normal" in Bordeaux with more warmth than Bordeaux was known for, but many estates, having taken notice of rising ripeness, compensated well in the vineyard to make balanced wines. Certainly a pleasure to enjoy the 2020 now, but will age as long as the companions in this pack.
“You must go back to 1928 to taste a wine from Rauzan Gassies this good.” CellarTracker, 2023
