Dear Friends and Wine Lovers,
Is the Burgundy 2005 Vintage – The Best Ever?
"...2005 is quite simply the best top to bottom vintage that I have ever seen, period, full stop!" - Allan Meadows, Burghound.
We were a little skeptical after reading that statement from Allan. Was he trying to one up Robert Parker in the 2005 vintage
sweepstakes...? Or was it a promotional stunt to attract more subscribers to his newsletter?
Last week we finally tasted barrel samples of the 2005 vintage ourselves and we want to apologize to Allan for our skepticism
because we can state unequivocally that this is the best Burgundy vintage we have ever wrapped our lucky little taste buds around. These are extraordinary wines with
tremendous depth, opulent fruit and a remarkable balance of delicacy and power. Many Domaines have created wines that approach perfection. The wines won't be
available for a few months, so stay tuned because we are in the midst of selecting what we feel is the "best of the best" to offer to you.
In the meantime we have started to receive some basic white Bourgogne that will let you savor the quality of this "off the charts"
Henri Clerc Bourgogne Blanc "Les Riaux" 2005
Since the retirement of Bernard Clerc in mid-2002, the brilliant Burgundy winemaker Vincent Girardin has been in charge, and his influence and skills are paying off
with impressive results. This Bourgogne Blanc comes from a block called "Les Riaux" which is situated just below the Puligny AOC vineyard. The vines are located so
close to the great Puligny vineyards that it actually expresses the zesty fruit and a mineral zing you expect in a great village Puligny-Montrachet with one major
difference... the price!
We love that this wine makes drinking white Burgundy an everyday event!
Here’s the deal... It goes for $19.99 on the shelf.
Buy 6 bottles and the price goes down to $17.99 a bottle.
Buy 12 bottles and the price goes down to $16.99 a bottle.

Undiscovered Small Producers from Southern France
Saturday, February 17th from 3-6pm
The husband and wife team of Patrick and Connie Allen have spent many years living in France working for major players in the wine business like Becky
Wasserman. In the spring of 2002 they started a wine import company dedicated to promoting the small, high-quality wineries they discovered touring the back roads
of the south of France.
These are the kind of wines we love to showcase at Le Dû's... country wines born in villages ignored by the big boys and rarely
seen in America. Every bottle is a tiny production gem, lovingly hand crafted by artisan farmers. You will also love the price to quality ratio at this tasting. Here’s
what we’ll be pouring...
Domaine Peysson - Côtes du Rhône Villages 2003 - Grenache/Syrah
Domaine Camp Galhan - Vin de Pays Duché d’Uzès 2004 - Syrah/Grenache
La Font L'Olivier - Vin de Pays des Côtes de Thongue 2003 - Carignan Vieille Vignes
Domaine de Rancy - Rivesaltes Ambre 4 Ans d'Age - Vin Doux Naturel
We hope to see you here...
Jean-Luc Le Dû.
