Dear Friends and Wine Lovers,
In 1979 the French publisher, Gault-Millau sponsored a competition involving 600 wines from 33 different
regions. The wine world was rocked when Oregon’s Eyrie Vineyards, South Block Pinot Noir 1975 was chosen as the best Pinot Noir, beating some
of France’s most beloved Burgundies. Since that historic event Oregon has been compared to Burgundy.
The similarities are uncanny. Both regions feature small farms that straddle the 45th parallel. The
annual sun, temperature and rainfall are virtually identical... and most significantly both produce some of the world’s finest Pinot Noir.
We recently received limited quantities of rare, vintage bottles with high scores from some of the top
producers in Oregon and Burgundy. We thought it would be fun to package them in a six pack so you can taste and compare the best of each
region. Here’s what it contains...
Ken Wright “Carter Vineyard” 1999 - 93pts Robert Parker
Panther Creek 'Bednarick' 1998 - 91pts Robert Parker
Brick House “Cuvee du Tonnelier” 1998 - 91pts Robert Parker
Domaine Vincent Girardin Pommard 1er Cru Chanlins 1996
"Wonderfully ripe and sweet" 93pts Wine Spectator.
Domaine Comte Armand Pommard 1er cru Clos des Epeneaux 1999
"Outstanding" 92pts Allen Meadows, Burghound.
Domaine Michel Lafarge Volnay - Vendange Sélectionées 1995
"A lovely effort" 89pts Allen Meadows, Burghound.
