Dear Friends and Wine Lovers,

The hill of Hermitage in the Northern Rhône is home to the greatest Syrah, Marsanne and Roussanne in the world, and Marc Sorrel is one of its superstars. His wines are among the most sought after in the appellation, mentioned in the same reverent breath as Chave, Chapoutier and Jaboulet.

The Le Dû’s Wine Salon is proud to present...

Hermitage - A Winemaker's Seminar - with Marc Sorrel and Jean-Luc Le Dû
Wednesday, November 1st - 6.30-8pm - $90

Marc Sorrel’s style is unquestionably old-school, 75 year old vines, extremely low yield, no de-stemming and long maceration in wood vats, so his wines showcase Syrah’s fleshy, gamey, bloody side. His whites are 95% Marsanne and 5% Roussanne from the oldest vines in Hermitage. They are very distinctive with scents of herbs, minerals, nuts and peaches. Northern Rhône fanatics love their undeniable terroir expression.

Since great Hermitage - both white and red - is judged by how it ages, you will have the unique opportunity to do a side-by-side vintage comparison of the following five wines...

Crozes-Hermitage Blanc - 2004 & 1999
Hermitage Blanc - 2004 & 1998
Hermitage ‘Les Rocoules’ Blanc - 2004 & 1998
Hermitage Rouge - 2004 & 1999
Hermitage ‘Le Gréal’ Rouge - 2004 & 1990

The older vintages are from Mr. Sorrell’s personal cellar and will not be for sale. Seating is limited to 12 people, so please reserve early to avoid disappointment. For reservations call 212-924-6999 or e-mail Andy.

Please join us this evening, October 19th from 5.30-8pm, for a tasting of some off-beat Italian grape varietals from Panebianco Wines, presented by our good friend Buddy Kenney.

From Dorigo in Friuli, a small production high quality winery we will be pouring a white Ribolla Gialla from 2005 and a red Refosco from 2004. From Marisa Cuomo on the the pristine Amalfi coast in Campagna we have a unique blend of 60% Falanghina and 40% Biancolella called Furore. Only 1500 cases are produced of this wine. Azienda Agricola Alessandro di Camporeale in Sicily was founded in the early 1900’s, and makes a powerful and complex Syrah called Kaid, which means chief in Arabic.

On Saturday October 21st from 3-6pm, we will be hosting a free tasting of our favorite Shiraz from Australia.

Willows Vineyard We are thrilled to present Australian Peter Scholz, winemaker for Willows Vineyard pouring his wines in our store. The wines produced by Peter are typical of the Barossa, showing full flavors and a long soft structure. The Willows Vineyard has received many accolades for it’s Shiraz and Semillon, with the highlight being the winning of the International Wine Challenge best Semillon Trophy in London in 1995. Here’s what Peter will be pouring...
