Dear Friends and Wine Lovers,
Marcel Deiss is one of the great idiosyncratic winemakers of Alsace. An early proponent of biodynamic winemaking, he consistently creates stunning, distinctive
wines with purity, focus and precision. Recently we tasted his Pinot Blanc, Bergheim 2000 and were so knocked out that Jean Luc started doing
hand stands around the store. We loved this wine so much that we bought every bottle available from the distributor.
On its release Robert Parker wrote that the Marcel Deiss Pinot Blanc Bergheim 2000 is “…one of the rare Pinot
Blancs that should improve with age, it will be at its best between 2004 and 2008”. He is absolutely correct…2000 was an excellent vintage for
Alsace and this wine is drinking great right now!!
The deep gold color gives you the first hint of this wines depth and intensity. The nose is complex from
six years of bottle age with floral and nutty aromas but is showing no oxidation. It sits fat in the palate with cloves and nutmeg and a
tropical sweetness from the ripe fruit.
If you are used to drinking your wines young and want to experience the alluring character of a wine ageing
gracefully, we urge you to try the Marcel Deiss Pinot Blanc. We believe that for $14.99 it will provide an exceptional drinking experience
unparalleled for the money.
Normal price - $14.99 a bottle
10% off on 6 bottles - $13.49 each

Wednesday, September 20 - The Great Grapes - $55
Visit the eight noble grape varietals that have become the most important in the world of wine. Learn about their lineage and historic
significance. Discover what makes them outstanding, especially when grown in the appropriate place and vinified in the hands of a skilled
winemaker. The grapes to be featured are Chardonnay, Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Nebbiolo, Merlot
and Pinot Noir.
Wednesday, September 27 – White Burgundy - $75
Burgundy is the most sensual and ethereal white wine area in the world. What is so magical about this small stretch of land in the heart of
France? Why is white Burgundy the benchmark to which Chardonnay producers around the world are compared? Join Jean Luc as we explore the
wide diversity of Burgundy terroir and flavors from Chablis to Macon with a few stops in Puligny, Chassagne and Meursault. Don’t miss this one!
Wednesday, October 4 – American Pinot Noir - $75
Pinot Noir grown in the good old USA has finally emerged from the giant shadow cast by Burgundy to establish an identity of its own. Winemakers
are stepping up to the plate and creating a distinctly American style that is totally hedonistic and full of delicious, ripe fruit. We will sample the
very best Pinots from the top AVA’s in Santa Barbara County, California’s Central Coast, Sonoma County and Oregon. This seminar will be
co-hosted by Jean Luc and Andy Shernoff, Le Du’s staff member and Pinot fanatic who also hosted the sold out Spanish seminar
earlier in the year.
Wednesday, October 11 – A Tour of Northern Italy - $60
This seminar will be a tour of the best of Northern Italy with a quick stop in Tuscany. We start in Friuli, home to the some of the most distinctive
white whites on the peninsula. Heading east we will stop in Lombardy to sample a Barbera. Then further east to Piedmont where we will compare
the kings of Italian wine, Barolo and Barberesco. Then on to Tuscany, which technically is not the north, but we wouldn’t leave Italy without
giving you a taste of a classic Brunello di Montalcino.
Our special guest lecturer for this seminar is Scott Calvert, former sommelier at The River Café, wine columnist
for Affluent Magazine and the managing partner of Tastevin Imports.
Wednesday, October 18 – The World’s Best Wine Values - $50
Featuring bottles under $20 from undiscovered regions
It’s easy to buy a great bottle of wine when you have an unlimited budget, but what do you do if you just want to spend ten dollars for dinner
or you are “financially challenged”? Since the price of wine is not always related to quality but to demand, a little inside knowledge is essential.
We will share some of our wine buying secrets in this seminar by revealing some of the great undiscovered wines of the world that combine great
flavor and great value.
This seminar will be conducted by Yannick Benjamin, former sommelier at Felidia, Atelier at The Ritz and was
the winner of the Best Young Sommelier Competition for 2005.
October 25 – Jean Luc’s Favorite Wine Regions - $70
Jean Luc has tasted the finest wines from the greatest regions of the world. So for which areas does he have the greatest passion? …..The answer
is; Priorat, Burgundy, the Rhone Valley, Piedmont and the Loire Valley. Taste the best of these great regions while Jean Luc explains why these
wines still get him excited.
We hope to see you here...
