Dear Friends and Wine Lovers,
The great Burgundy vintner Denis Mortet was an intense, perfectionist who created masterful examples of Pinot
Noir’s finesse with understated elegance. No shortcuts were ever used in his quest for excellence. Everything from the vineyard to the vat room
was done by hand. Due to strict vineyard techniques, his philosophy of no chemicals and ruthlessly low yields; his grapes ripened fully and
chaptalisation (the common practice of adding sugar to extend fermentation) was very rarely used. Denis was proud and ebullient about his 2004s,
unfortunately it turned out to be his final vintage as the dedicated and passionate winemaker died on January 30, 2006 at the age of 51. It was a
great loss to wine lovers around the world as production never met demand, even when he was alive.
We are proud to offer Burgundy lovers the following wines from Denis Mortet’s last vintage on a pre-sell basis.
