Dear Friends and Wine Lovers,
Iíve enjoyed many incredible wine tasting trips to Bordeaux but the high point is always a visit to
Chateau Latour. Iíve known Frederic
Engerer, the president of Chateau Latour, for many years and I think he has raised the level of quality at the estate to new heights.
In my opinion, the last 15 years have been the golden age for Latour.
While barrel tasting the
otherworldly 2005, he proposed a special offer for our customers, a few cases of Chateau Latourís new project,
Pauillac 2002. The grapes for this wine come
from the young vines of Les Forts de Latour, within the vineyard of Chateau Latour. It is a classic Pauillac, with red berry aromas and a hint of
lead pencil. Medium bodied in weight it has a nice discreet backbone of tannins and a long, elegant finish. I highly recommend this wine to celebrate
Franceís national holiday, Bastille Day, as it is quintessential Bordeaux.

Fredericís generosity didnít end with the Pauillac, he also offered us some older vintages of Les Forts de
Latour, the ďlittle brotherĒ of Latour, a wine that comes from three parcels located around the main vineyard. This is a wine of great power
and elegance, with a ripe tannic core and a very long finish. I canít thank Frederic enough for giving us access to some of the best vintages
of Les Forts de Latour of the last 25 years!!!
