Wednesday, July 12th - How to Taste Wine - $50
This seminar will reveal a few
fundamental techniques that can dramatically increase your drinking pleasure. Tasting wine involves three senses (sight, smell and taste) that identify
four primary components (sugar, alcohol, acid and tannins). Once you develop the skills to distinguish those elements a whole new world will open up as
your senses will be heightened and you will be able to communicate more eloquently about the flavors you are tasting.
All wines will be tasted blind for this seminar, which will be taught by Yannick Benjamin. Yannick, who presented our
recent Riesling/Summer Wine seminar, was the winner of Best Young Sommelier Competition for 2005.
Wedenesday, July 19th - Loire Valley - $50
The Loire Valley is one of the largest
and most diverse wine regions in France. It produces wines in every style from vibrant sparklers to deep, complex, dry reds and whites to luscious,
unctuous dessert wines. As home to the world’s most extraordinary Chenin Blanc, Sauvignon Blanc and Cabernet Franc, the Loire is a treasure trove for
summertime drinkers. These wines have fallen under the radar for many people but Jean Luc will shine the spotlight on them revealing their exceptional
character and food friendly nature.
Wedenesday, July 26th – Focus on Long Island - $50
This is the seminar to take
before heading out to the East End this summer. In the past 30 years the Long Island wine industry has grown from one small winery to 3,000 acres of
vines and 60 wineries producing world class wines. Our very special guest will be Christopher Tracey, winemaker for Channing Daughters Winery located
in Bridgehampton. He will discuss the terroir of Long Island, which grapes grow best on Long Island and winemaking techniques while pouring his unique
and distinctive wines.
