Dear Friends and Wine Lovers,

Jean-Louis Chave needs no introduction. As the proprietor of one of France's finest and oldest estates, he is the embodiment of the grand tradition of northern Rhône winemaking and sits comfortably in the upper echelon of the world's preeminent winemakers. His Hermitage is the world's greatest expression of the Syrah grape with numerous 100 and 99 point scores from Robert Parker to back it up.

However like many producers in the tiny Northern Rhône appellation, he produces a miniscule amount of wine from postage-stamp parcels of vines. To handle the great demand for his wines he has created a small négociant business, J-L Chave Sélections. Sourcing grapes from small domaines that reflect his values and fine attention to detail he has created two wines, the St. Joseph "Offerus" and the Côtes du Rhône "Mon Coeur."

With the "Offerus" Chave has created a truly expressive St. Joseph. From the vivid purple color, intense aromas of violets and black fruit flavors, it is a textbook example of a Northern Rhône Syrah grown on a steep granite slope with prime exposure.

Chave's enduring passion and love of the Rhône Valley inspired his Syrah/Grenache blend "Mon Coeur." He sources fruit from four estates who work organically with very low yields to help create a focused wine full of earthy, ripe blackberry and raspberry fruit. This is a Côtes du Rhône that elevates the entire appellation.

The shelf price for the J.L. Chave Côtes du Rhône "Mon Coeur" is $21.99
The shelf price for the J.L. Chave St. Joseph "Offerus" is $27.99

France vs USA Join us for a classic old world - new world showdown as we delve into the different terroirs and wine making practices of France and the United States. How To Taste Wine with Yannick Benjamin
Wednesday, July 11th - $60

Tasting We've offered this seminar before but found it so essential we decided to repeat it because it will help fine tune your palate and dramatically increase your drinking pleasure. Tasting wine involves three senses (sight, smell and taste) that identify four primary components (sugar, alcohol, acid and tannins). Once you develop the skills to distinguish those elements a whole new world will open up as your senses will be heightened and you will be able to communicate more eloquently about the flavors you taste... Learn to taste like a professional, without any preconceptions.

All wines will be tasted blind for this seminar which will be taught by Yannick Benjamin, who finished 2nd in the "Best Sommelier in America" competition and first in the blind tasting portion.

For reservations call us on 212-924-6999 or e-mail Andy.
All Seminars run from 6:30-8:00pm and are held in the store.
