Jean-Louis Chave needs no introduction. As the proprietor of one of France's finest and oldest estates, he is the embodiment of the grand
tradition of northern Rhône winemaking and sits comfortably in the upper echelon of the world's preeminent winemakers. His Hermitage is the world's greatest expression of
the Syrah grape with numerous 100 and 99 point scores from Robert Parker to back it up.
However like many producers in the tiny Northern Rhône appellation, he produces a miniscule amount of wine from postage-stamp parcels of vines. To handle the great
demand for his wines he has created a small négociant business, J-L Chave Sélections. Sourcing grapes from small domaines that reflect his values and fine attention to detail
he has created two wines, the St. Joseph "Offerus" and the Côtes du Rhône "Mon Coeur."
With the "Offerus" Chave has created a truly expressive St. Joseph. From the vivid purple color, intense aromas of violets and black fruit
flavors, it is a textbook example of a Northern Rhône Syrah grown on a steep granite slope with prime exposure.
Chave's enduring passion and love of the Rhône Valley inspired his Syrah/Grenache blend "Mon Coeur." He sources fruit from four estates

the world: Paul Jaboulet's Hermitage La Chapelle.
The Hermitage hill is one of the most exquisite vineyard sites in the world and La Chapelle has achieved iconic status as the quintessential
expression of the Syrah grape, prized for its concentration, structure and ageability. Grapes have been grown at that historic location for so long that they were mentioned by
both Pliny and Martial - centuries before vines grew in the Médoc.
Chef Geoffery Zakarian from Country will prepare an exceptional 4-course tasting menu to accompany the following vintages: 1983, 1990, 1991, 1994, 1995, 1997, 1999 and
2003. The 1990 vintage received 100 points from Robert Parker and is acknowledged as one of the greatest bottles of Syrah ever produced.
Dinner in a private room will be preceded by a short seminar by Jean-Luc Le Dû on Northern Rhône wines with a focus on Hermitage.
