Dear Friends and Wine Lovers,
We love Pinot Noir! It is the most ethereal, sensual and intoxicating of all grapes. Its delicate berry fruit, so seductive when young, matures
into extraordinary gamey, truffle flavors that makes grown men cry.
There is a tendency to compare Pinot Noir from California with Pinot Noir from Burgundy. We find the comparisons unfair because the styles are so divergent. You rarely see
comparisons between Australian Shiraz and Northern Rhône Syrah. We appreciate both approaches... fat, opulent California Pinots and finessed, elegant red Burgundies.
Taste is subjective but one thing is certain, for the price of a quality village Burgundy you can purchase a top of the line California Pinot
We have collected six of the most outstanding, hand crafted, allocated California Pinots on the market for this special email offering.

An Introduction to French Country Wines with Jean-Luc Le Dû
Wednesday, June 13th - $70
While the world famous regions of Bordeaux, Burgundy and the Rhône Valley are considered the gold standard in wine production, France also offers a trove of great
wines from lesser known areas. We are calling this seminar "an introduction to French Country Wines" for a lack of a better term. It is really doing a disservice to the
superb wines we will be showcasing as they give more famous wines from around the world a run for their money. Get ready to be surprised, shocked and won over by this
bunch of unknowns!

with us, including including Dominus, and Philippe Melka.
Lisa Granik MW is one of only 24 Americans to pass the difficult and rigorous Master of Wine exam which indicates an extremely
high standard of professional knowledge.
Domaine Paul Jaboulet Ainé - Hermitage La Chapelle Vertical Dinner
Thursday, June 21st at 7:00pm
Geoffrey Zakarian's Country
Carlton Hotel - 90 Madison Avenue (at 29th Street)
We have 2 seats available for this special dinner
Join James Beard Award Winner Jean-Luc Le Dû for an intimate dinner and vertical wine tasting of one of the greatest and rarest wines in
the world: Paul Jaboulet's Hermitage La Chapelle.
The Hermitage hill is one of the most exquisite vineyard sites in the world and La Chapelle has achieved iconic status as the quintessential
expression of the Syrah grape, prized for its concentration, structure and ageability. Grapes have been grown at that historic location for so long that they were mentioned by
both Pliny and Martial - centuries before vines grew in the Médoc.
Chef Geoffery Zakarian from Country will prepare an exceptional 4-course tasting menu to accompany the following vintages: 1983, 1990, 1991, 1994, 1995, 1997, 1999 and
2003. The 1990 vintage received 100 points from Robert Parker and is acknowledged as one of the greatest bottles of Syrah ever produced.
Dinner in a private room will be preceded by a short seminar by Jean-Luc Le Dû on Northern Rhône wines with a focus on Hermitage.
Seating is limited to twelve people.
Price is $420 per person including tax & gratuity.

France vs. America with Yannick Benjamin
Wednesday, June 27th - $75
Join us for a classic old world - new world showdown as we delve into the different terroirs and wine making practices of France and the United States. We will sample the
noble varietals Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Syrah and Viognier from each country, then compare and contrast how the different viticultural and vinification techniques employed
help create the flavors in the glass.
How To Taste Wine with Yannick Benjamin
Wednesday, July 11th - $60
We've offered this seminar before but found it so essential we decided to repeat it because it will help fine tune your palate and dramatically increase your
drinking pleasure. Tasting wine involves three senses (sight, smell and taste) that identify four primary components (sugar, alcohol, acid and tannins). Once you develop the
skills to distinguish those elements a whole new world will open up as your senses will be heightened and you will be able to communicate more eloquently about the flavors
you taste... Learn to taste like a professional, without any preconceptions.
All wines will be tasted blind for this seminar which will be taught by Yannick Benjamin, who finished 2nd in the "Best Sommelier in
America" competition and first in the blind tasting portion.
For reservations call us on 212-924-6999 or e-mail
All Seminars run from 6:30-8:00pm and are held in the store.
15% discount on any three seminars.
We hope to see you here...
